I love the texture of the silver velvet plectranthus leaves, through which the fresh fluffy green hydrangea pompoms erupt, with the classic trailing bacopa softening the pot edge. A hugely long-performing container collection. The hydrangea is compact enough for a large pot and is of course perennial, to grace your pots in sun or dappled shade, for years to come.

Moisture Moist but Well-drained
Height 10-160cm (4-63in)
Spacing up to 1.5m (4ft 11in), trailing up to 30-40cm (12-16in)
Sowing, Seeds, Planting Frost-tender plants will require protection until all risk of frost has passed. Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions for 7-10 days before moving to their final position. For growing in pots, use as large a container as possible, as this won't dry out so quickly and will require less watering. Put plenty of crocks in the bottom for drainage and part-fill with a good quality, multi-purpose peat-free compost. Position your plants, putting taller ones in the centre and trailing ones at the edges. Backfill with compost ensuring the roots are well-covered and water well to settle the soil.
Care Tips No need to deadhead but container-grown plants may require watering every day, especially during the summer months and a regular liquid feed. Protect the plectranthus and bacopa from frosts during the winter or treat as annuals. To enhance flowering, prune hydrangea hard in early spring, cut back the previous season's shoots to within a few buds of the permanent, woody framework of the plant.
