Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Clematis need moisture-retentive, but well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade. Keep the base of the plant and the roots cool and shaded, by carefully positioning other plants, or put a layer of pebbles or flat stones at the base. Make sure you plant this with a method of support, and tie it in as it grows. This variety is virtually tendril-free, so won't entwine itself around an obelisk or trellis, you'll have to give it a hand. |
Care Tips | Pruning group 3 - flowers on the current season's growth so cut back hard in early spring to a healthy pair of buds 30cm (12in) above the ground and apply a mulch of compost or well-rotted manure. Tie in new shoots to a trellis or other suitable support. Will benefit from a regular liquid feed throughout the growing season. Read Sarah's article for more information on how to prune clematis. |

I always find your plants arrive in good condition considering the distance they travel. |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Diane When the plants arrived they were without labels and a bit damaged I contacted customer service and they sent me two more. I planted the four and three were purple and just one was a Princess Diana. The purple ones are sort of ok but nothing special, the Diana is really beautiful. SO top marks for one out of 4 plants |

Beautiful 'Princess Diana' clematis
Reviewed 12th August 2017 by Susie McCormack This clematis has been delighting me all summer for the past 5 years. The flowers are so elegant and the colour is unusual-it starts almost red and matures to a lovely pink. The leaves are a lovely fresh green - a perfect foil to the flowers. |
