Sowing, Seeds, Planting If you have a greenhouse, rooted cuttings of outdoor varieties can be potted on in early spring and grown on in a well-ventilated greenhouse or conservatory. When the roots have filled the pot, which should be around April, they can be potted on and moved to a cold frame. Plant into their final positions outside from early May, spacing them 45-60cm (18-24in) apart. Indoor varieties can be planted directly into soil beds in the greenhouse; space them 30-40cm apart and water in well. Alternatively, on arrival they can be treated the same as outdoor varieties. In early June, transplant into their final pots (20cm-23cm (8-9in) in diameter), and move them outside until around the end of September, at which point they should be moved into a frost-free greenhouse.
Care Tips After planting, water generously for 1-2 weeks so the plants get well established. Apply a balanced liquid feed every two weeks from midsummer until the flower buds start to appear. They will require supporting with a cane and tying in as they grow. After flowering, cut back the main stem to about 20cm (8in), lift the shortened plants and overwinter in a frost-free place.
Flowering September - December
Vase Life They will look good for up to 3 weeks.

They arrived in very good green condition. Received from the postman's hand. Set immediately but there was one of the cuttings (Antastia Green) had roots but had the stem trimmed above the second leaf node. Left in the potting shed they very quickly grew on bar the one. Once set out side they have romped away to good sized plants. But the defective one remains at two leaves and now show signs of dying.

Healthy strong plants. I enjoyed potting them up and caring for them before planting out. Looking forward to seeing what they produce as I'm not a big fan of chrysanthemums normally....hoping for unusual shades and textures! Already have a wish list of Sarah Raven plants for the Autumn and will be ordering again.

Directions clear and easy to follow. Cuttings were smaller than expected but I still managed to get them all to grow-on. Just waiting for them to flower but they are looking good so expect decent blooms.

Awful, have very tall plants but absolutely no sign of buds, worst of the whole package I bought

Service was great but the plants just didn't do anything. I followed all the instructions, planted them as soon as they arrived, looked after them, but they hardly grew and definitely were not abundant. Sadly, really disappointing!

Beautiful! So pleased with them. Still got lovely flowers in the house late November

Service is always good. Plants were slow to get going - probably because of the long dry summer. But fantastic, large flowers now. Just hope they don't blow away too soon.

I’ve never been a fan of chrysanthemums but, seduced by the descriptions and images in your catalogue, I decided to give this collection a go. So pleased I did. They are flowering now, three in the open ground and the two more tender ones in pots in the greenhouse. They need very good stakes as the green ones in particular are extremely tall. The plugs were strong and grew away rapidly.

Only 2 of the 5 cuttings have grown on well and reached flowering stage. Not value for money.

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your review. we are very sorry to hear of your disappointment with your Chrysanthemum Collection and have refunded you for the collection."

Surprisingly these were my favourite purchase of last year ... from 6cm cuttings to taller than me in one season. I thought perhaps chrysanthemums were a little unfashionable, but they were a joy to grow and so many flowers and in contempoary colours...and still picking in mid November! On top of this they last four or more weeks in the vase. Great investment.

I bought this collection together with the the Jewel Collection which I have just reviewed. What more can I add; they are fabulous! Strong rooted cuttings which were easy to grow on; large heads and great vase life. Thank you!
