Care Tips Don't plant tulip bulbs until the cold weather has set in – this helps wipe out viral and fungal diseases. Leave the browning foliage on your tulips until every leaf has died right down – this allows the bulb to store more food and increases the chances of good flowering the following year.
Flowering April
Vase Life Tulips make supreme cut flowers. Strip the bottom leaves, tie the stems in paper to hold the stems ram-rod straight and leave to drink for at least 3 hours – or overnight. This helps keep the stems straight, but tulips do continue to grow after picking so curves may appear.

The trouble is that 2 of the tulip packets actually contained hyacinths which I didn’t realise until they sprouted and looked un-tulip like. I did ring up about this and was told “oh this sometimes happens” and was asked which tulips I didn’t get. Of course by that stage I had forgotten which varieties I hadn’t got! Hyacinths are lovely but they are not what I ordered so I was a bit disappointed.

The first time I have grown this tulip, it's so lovely I'll definitely be growing it again next year. It also has good weather tolerance which is a must up here in Orkney.

Long lasting and so pretty

These started soft yellow and faded to pure white. They flowered for weeks in pots. Planted with soft yellow daffs and pale blue and yellow violas. They faded to white in time to match the apple blossom above.

Beautiful
