Sowing, Seeds, Planting | October - December |
Care Tips | Don’t plant tulips until mid-late October. Plant pointy end up 10-15cm deep, 8cm apart in borders (less in containers). You can use a mycorrhizal Bulb Starter. After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs. |
Flowering | April - May |
Vase Life | Tulips make supreme cut flowers. Strip the bottom leaves, tie the stems in paper to hold the stems ram-rod straight and leave to drink for at least 3 hours – or overnight. This helps keep the stems straight, but tulips do continue to grow after picking so curves may appear. |

Brighten Up Some Shade Tulip Collection reviews
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Richard really do brighten up the darker pathway most impressive thoroughly recommend |
Reviewed 31st July 2019 by Isobel This collection was a spectacular success. The tulips were in various shades of white, cream and yellow which glowed in a dark corner of my garden. Every tulip flowered and the size and longevity of the flowers were amazing. I have honestly never had such large and long lasting blooms...perhaps the shade helped but I cannot recommend them highly enough. |
Reviewed 11th July 2019 by Hello Janet If this is the yellow wallflowers and gorgeous waisted yellow tulips, I loved it. Such beautiful colours and a joyful mixture! |
Reviewed 11th July 2019 by Hello Pat Great for under a tree. I planted them and Rembrandt under an apple tree and they looked amazing. |
Reviewed 10th July 2019 by Hello Jamie Lovely long stems and really stood out amongst a lot of green |
Reviewed 10th July 2019 by Hello Alastair Did exactly as I had hoped in brightening up a dark corner that was transformed by this superb collection. |
Reviewed 5th July 2019 by Pamela Perfect- our display looked just like the picture in the brochure |
Reviewed 3rd July 2019 by Carolyne As with all the collection I purchased, I was very pleased with the results. They added a little lift to a dull corner of my walled court yard. |

I loved the collection and would buy again but at least one came up blind. This is probably because my garden soil is not brilliant and I think you need at least 2 packs to get any impact. |
Reviewed 26th June 2019 by Caroline Suitably impressed as I didn't expect tulips would do so well in dappled shade. Once all the varieties got going it was quite an impressive display. I couldn't pick a favourite, but love the primrose yellows in the mix. |

Exceedingly good tulips
Reviewed 1st September 2018 by Joanne Ferguson Thanks to this fabulous collection, I've discovered a tulip I now can't live without: World Friendship. It's quite remarkable how well such a large, tall tulip keeps its shape and it is the perfect colour between Tres Chic and Yellow Appledorn. The inclusion of Gavota is inspired, however in both the years I bought the collection its flowers were smaller than the others. This year they will all go in the ground to see if that helps. |
Gorgeous tulips
Reviewed 27th May 2017 by Iulia Wright Absolutely beautiful tulips that did well in partial shade. The ones that I planted in full shade did not work, only one out of ten actually flowered, and three more produced only leaves. They grow rather tall and strong, no support needed. |
Brighten up some shade
Reviewed 3rd May 2017 by Brenda Devlin A lovely collection of tulips. I've grown these in a pot in the north of Scotland under really challenging conditions and they have come into flower this week, all at the same time, creating a beautiful display of lovely healthy blooms. I would go so far as to say these are the best tulips I have grown. Highly recommended. |
Lovely Strong Flowers
Reviewed 24th April 2017 by Oana Harrison I was very pleased with this collection. It gave me really big strong flowers, much bigger than I expected . |
