When this first emerges, you think – yes so what – until the perfect, Fabergé-style flowers fully open and then are held there, like jewels, each one lasting for weeks on the stem. One of my favourite table centre pot plants of all time.

Sowing, Seeds, Planting Plant 6cm deep as soon as the soil has warmed up a bit, in mid to late April or early May in well drained soil or pot.
Care Tips Water regularly during growing season.
Flowering June - September
Vase Life Sear stem ends for 10 seconds in boiling water to maximise vase life
Storing Lift when foliage dies back & discard old corms. Store new corms in a dry frost-free place . In milder areas, leave in ground with a thick dry winter mulch

Planted in pots. Did nothing for a long time, and leaves are slug prone... nearly lost them sitting outside; but now after a month in the greenhouse they have produced the first flower and loads of buds. As stunning as promised.

Again very disappointing. Planted the corms in a bowl. Left them in conservatory for a few weeks and then moved them out to patio when risk of frosts over. A few green spikes appeared here and there but no flowers.
