If you don't have a particular colour scheme in mind – go for a mix of all of these freesias and get the best of all worlds. A classic highly perfumed, zingy coloured jumble including white, yellow, red, pink and mauve freesias.

I adore freesias – I love the scent, the arching stems, and that either growing or cut, each stem lasts nearly three weeks, looking and smelling delicious.

I've tried growing them several times and found that inside – in the greenhouse – they flowered best. However, with these new varieties, which have been bred especially and cold and heat treated, they flower brilliantly in the garden.

Our freesias are first class, top size, fresh healthy corms which have been stored through the winter at the right humidity (80%) and at 28°C. (Most garden centres cannot provide this which is why – in my experience – freesias often struggle). They need planting in March (in a greenhouse) or April (outside), once temperatures reach more than 5°C, and will flower 3-4 months from planting.

They can be planted 5-6 corms to a 1L pot, or straight out into the garden

This can be gift wrapped in our exclusive hessian sack, with ribbon and a Sarah Raven gift card. You will be able to add this to your basket once you begin the checkout process. They struggled and only one flowered, which was beautiful, so I have dug them up, will overwinter and try again. I shared the packet with my neighbour and she too had lots of leaves but no flowers.

Not a single corm germinated ☹️ I planted them on arrival in warm sunny bed on the edge of our patio so rather disappointed.

The service and purchase was fine the fact that only a couple of the corms showed signs of life was a disappointment. The planting advice was followed carefully but most of the corms/bulbs remained in the condition they arrived! Attempts to grow some in a pot was also unsuccessful.

The corms did really poorly in Preston this year which is not the usual result. Hence I've been very disappointed. I guess due to the weather being so hot, I planted some in May June and July to stagger the flowering season and I've had only two flowers. Now in November I've lots of green shoots, alas no flowers. I'm still hopeful.

I followed the instructions exactly and all of the bulbs flourished and gave me a lovely show. I have taken bunkers from the bulbs and kept them in a warm environment and aspire to grow an autumn starting crop

I don't seem to be able to get my freesias to grow at all. I planted all these in pots (instead of ground which failed last year) and only one shoot has come up. It is a year on from purchase and I am really disappointed I don't seem to have had any luck again. No sign of anything at all. I planted them correctly as per instructions in the appropriate compost. My tulips I bought however are stunning so I guess I have one success this year.

Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear that you have had poor results from the freesias. We do find that freesias can take up to 100-120 days to flower and need a long warm spell to start them off so it may be that the weather last summer did not help. If you would like to try a replacement pack then we will of course send you one so that you can try again. We have made a note on your account and if you contact our customer service team at info@sarahraven.com or by calling 0345 092 0283 we will arrange for this to be sent out to you or alternatively, if you prefer, we can arrange for the pack to be refunded."

Survived the frosts!

I completely neglected these last year and planted them very late. They didn't do anything for a while and then came up just in time for the first frosts in 2016. I assumed that was the end of them but now (April) they have flower buds on!

Not one bulb flowered

Last year I split these corms between my Mum's garden and my own, about 50 miles apart. In both gardens I planted five corms a week apart starting in late May after the frosts stopped. Not one of them flowered, and when eventually I dug them up in September, all the corms looked exactly as they did when they arrived. Not one sign of growth on any of them. We had a cool summer last year, but maybe they just don't work in Scotland anyway? (?)

Reply from the Sarah Raven Team:

"Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to hear that the classic freesia mix failed to grow at all. Freesias do thrive in the heat but these corms should be happy growing in the UK climate. Please do let our customer service team know and we can either replace them or arrange for a full refund to be issued to you.
