Sowing, Seeds, Planting For autumn planting: our corms can be planted from September to November. Place outside while temperatures are still between 10-17°C and move indoors – e.g. a living room or conservatory – by mid-November as they will not survive temperatures below 3-5°C. For spring planting: Plant them in March (in a greenhouse) or outside in April but only after all risk of frost has passed. Planting later than mid-May is not recommended as temperatures may be too high. For autumn and spring planted corms, keep well-watered and provide support with a triangle or square of canes to keep the foliage and flowering stems upright as they grow. Apply a small dose of liquid feed when the plants are 5cm (2in) tall. Discard or compost bulbs after flowering.
Care Tips If planted in good quality soil they won't need feeding. Support with a stout stick, tie in every couple of weeks. In the south you can mulch deeply and overwinter them in the ground. For more useful tips, read our how to grow freesias guide.
Flowering July - September, 3-4 months from planting to flowering.
Vase Life Last nearly 3 weeks. Remove blooms below the waterline. Keep away from sources of ethylene.

Erratic growth - many didn't flower at all and others were stunted. Those which did flower, however, were beautiful and fragrant.

Planted half the lovely looking corms in two separate positions...half in the greenhouse the other half in a sheltered position in the garden. Only 5 flowers emerged! When they did bloom they were excellent but a very poor percentage.
