More Details

The wild, wood anemone is one of the most beautiful wild flowers of early spring.

You'll see wood anemones in any ancient wood, flowering from February until the bluebells open in May.

Plant a few of these in your garden – different colours and varieties – in the shade under the skirts of trees and shrubs, or out at the front of the border in full sun. They'll grow happily anywhere, increasing gradually from year to year.

Please note: This may look like a bit of twiggy compost when it arrives (see image) but these 'twigs' are the rhizomes. Soak overnight in a bucket of water before planting and they will double in size and start growing more quickly than if planted dry.

Planted these late winter 2014 along with anemone blanda. They produced few flowers, (unlike their blue bedfellows) but I am hoping for better things next Spring. Fingers crossed.
