For containers, space bulbs 1-2cm (½-1in) apart if planting in a single layer, give them more room, 2-3cm (1-1½in) if planting in a bulb lasagne. |
Sowing, Seeds, Planting | Plant outdoors October - December. |
Care Tips | Don’t plant tulips until mid-late October. Plant pointy end up 10-15cm deep, 8cm apart in borders (less in containers). You can use a mycorrhizal Bulb Starter. After flowering leave the foliage to die back naturally if you want to reuse the bulbs. |
Flowering | Late March - April |
Vase Life | Tulips make supreme cut flowers. Strip the bottom leaves, tie the stems in paper to hold the stems ram-rod straight and leave to drink for at least 3 hours – or overnight. This helps keep the stems straight, but tulips do continue to grow after picking so curves may appear. |

I got 15 of these free with my tulip order - and they were a superb addition to the garden. Large, peony-like flowers which keep getting better. |
WHAT A BEAUTY
Reviewed 2nd May 2016 by Mary Hamilton-Goya YOU WOULD NEVER BELIEVE THIS IS A TULIP, FROM A DISTANCE IT LOOKS LIKE A PEONY. SO LONG LASTING BOTH IN THE GARDEN AND AS A CUT FLOWER. NEXT YEAR I INTEND TO PLANT IT IN A POT SO THAT I CAN APPRECIATE ITS BEAUTY NEARER THE HOUSE. |
Fabulous
Reviewed 5th May 2015 by Jean Robinson These tulips are absolutely wonderful, the colour is superb and the flowers are so beautiful and long lasting. Highly recommended. |
Perfect for an awkward pot!
Reviewed 29th April 2015 by Alison I bought these to fill a small pot with some forget-me-nots, in an awkward location that is in partial shade (near my front door!). I'm pleased to say that their smaller form is perfect for the size of the pot and doesn't drown out the forget-me-nots, and the colour is amazing! |
