Direct sow March-September. Can be sown under cover earlier in a gutter or modules for planting out after 4-6 weeks.

Description

A must-have desert island plant. I’ve grown this delicious, tender and very long-cropping, leafy green for several years, but realised how truly remarkable it was in the summer of 2018 when, despite the drought, this NEVER bolted. All other chard varieties, as well as spinach (including perpetual) ran to flower, but not ‘Lucullus’ - bred for Australian drought and heat. Passionately recommended.

Care Tips

This will survive winter frosts to keep producing through until spring, especially if protected with cloches or fleece.
