The sky is blue and the garden is sprouting

Posted in All posts, April, on

We've had uncharacteristically hot and sunny weather here in the south of England. The skies have been almost permanently blue here on the coast, and the temperatures hit over 25c last week! Perfect, given it was National Gardening Week really, and there's plenty to be getting on with in the garden.

I wouldn't say I'm your typical gardener and you certainly won't be seeing my garden in any magazines any time soon – but our garden has it's own "personality". After little success with growing from seed last year – the Jiffy pellets were amazing, but the city garden rodents got the little seedlings as soon as they went out – we plonked in a whole load of bulbs last autumn in the hope that these would fare better. So far, so good.

The bluebells have arrived, mimicking the colour of the sky...

Next up is this tulip – the lone variety so far in the garden, but bringing much needed cheer.

And then there's rather a lot of promise in the garden, plants that have felt the sunshine and started sprouting, like lilies for example...

And rhubarb...

And a variety of different herbs...

And last but not least, my Autumn Winter Salad Leaf Mix is still going!

What is sprouting in your garden to get you excited?
