Zinnia elegans 'Queen Red Lime' is exotic and unusual with red flowers, flecked with lime. I love a single stem of this in a vase.

There is hardly a vegetable garden in France, where you will not see zinnias grown for cutting. They thrive in hot, dry, Mediterranean summers and need good drainage and sunny open positions, but survive our colder, wetter summers fine. Any doubts, and give them one or two doses of Bordeaux Mixture and they will thrive.
