Product Description
The well-known peppery salad leaf, which is good raw, or wilted over pasta or pizza. It runs up to flower quickly in the heat, so don't grow it in the summer, but sow it in the autumn or end of winter for picking in the autumn, winter and early spring. Try rocket with beetroot and feta or with carpaccio of beef fillet (for both see p55 Garden Cookbook).

Sowing: Direct sow in lines or blocks straight into the ground in early spring and late summer/autumn. Sown in autumn, under cover or cloches it will provide valuable winter salad. Easy germination. Will grow in part-shade. It may get infested with flea beetle which leaves lots of tiny holes all over the leaves. Protect with a physical barrier of fleece from sowing on. Water regularly to prevent it becoming too hot and sour. Final Thinning/Planting Distance: 8-10cm Harvesting: 6-8 weeks from sowing. Cut above bottom set of leaves. If you cut below, you'll kill the plant. Leaf production: 3 months. Keep picking regularly. Flowers are edible Conditioning: Cut 2 hours before eating and submerge in cold water. Storing: Store in a plastic box for 2-3 days in the fridge
