Beetroot 'Burpees Golden' is a sweet-tasting and brilliant-looking organic beetroot, it's fantastic for mixing with the purple in a salad. I sow one row of orange next to a row of purple and harvest a few roots of both each time. Germination is sporadic so sow plenty of seeds.

Sowing: Soak seed in warm water for half an hour before sowing. Direct sow every 3-4 weeks from early March to July. Sow thinly, 5cm apart in rows 30cm apart. Final Thinning/Planting Distance: Thin to 10cm between plants Harvesting: 8-10 weeks from spring sowing. Earlier for small golf ball size. To harvest pull alternate plants down the row, in effect thinning, to leave room for remaining beetroot to develop. Remaining roots will enlarge and store for winter. Tops can be eaten at 5-8cm tall in salads.
