alstroemeria

In quite a shady bed at Perch Hill, they flowered from June until November and when we dug them in a bed in the greenhouse, they flowered in February, then again - the same plants in July and November - three crops from one root.

Pull the flowers - like picking rhubarb - rather than cut them and they'll produce more and more. Excellent for the border and cutting. See Sarah's advice on how to grow Alstroemeria, including how to grow them inside and how to choose the best varieties.
