Amaryllis ‘Green Goddess’ isn’t really green but white and looks more like a cross between an amaryllis and a lily. With its crimson-mahogany markings on the outer petals and supremely elegant trumpet shape, it reminded me very much of Lilium regale, the classic spectacularly beautiful summer lily.
It’s an easy and reliable bulb to grow, with at least three flowering stems on every bulb.
Our Amaryllis are huge bumper-sized bulbs, which will give you several flower spikes and keep flowering for over a month. Store them from one year to the next to get bigger and better year on year.
The gift collection contains 1 top size bulb in a hessian sack, tied with ribbon and containing full planting instructions. This will be delivered from November - expect them to flower 2-3 months after planting.
| Genus: | Amaryllis |
| Variety | Green Goddess |
| Group: | Large-Flowered |
| Type: | Deciduous |
| Soil Type: | Rich but exceptionally well drained | Site: | Inside. Bright, warm, sunny place - ideally 20 degrees. Free from draughts of an open window. | Height: | 40cm | Spacing: | Plant with the bulb two thirds in, one third out of the soil. | Hardiness: | Hardy | Care tips: | Amaryllis are a tender bulb from Brazil and so need to be grown inside – frost free – when it’s cold, but once the frosts are over and the nights are no longer cold, they can be moved outside until the end of summer. Think of them as a tender garden – not a house-plant and treat them much as you would a precious pot of freesia or non hardy agapanthus. | Flowers: | ❀ Spring |
