Product Description
Walking round a trial field in Holland, I realised the tall stems look the best, with the flowers well spaced so that you see some air between each ‘nail’ (the proper name for each individual flower).
This is particularly true of Roman hyacinths, a very beautiful blue Israeli variety, the nearest to the wild Hyacinth orientalis form, which grows amongst the sun-baked rocks in the hills of Turkey, Syria and Lebanon.
These marry much better than the chunkier garden hybrid varieties of hyacinths with other early spring flowers - primroses, scillas, wood anemones and delicate narcissi, and are hence much easier to integrate into the garden at this time of year. Unusual and unmissable.
