Linaria purpurea ‘Canon Went’ (toadflax) is perpetually busy with butterflies and bees, this is a nectar Mecca all summer.

The toadflaxes are a new discovery for me. They flower for months at a stretch and look wonderful in the garden and cut in a small glass or jug.

Sowing: Sow March/April and/ or August/September.
Site: Full sun and moderately fertile, well drained soil.
Height: 75cm (30in)
Spacing: Plant 50cm (20in) apart.
Hardiness: Fully hardy.
Care tips: Remove flowering heads if you don't want them to self-seed. Divide clumps in spring.
Flowers: ❀ Early summer through autumn.
For the vase: Sear stem ends for 15 seconds and they will last a week in water.
