These are the Hyacinth 'Woodstock' bulbs for forcing indoors. 'Woodstock' is the most beautiful hyacinth of all - the colour of beetroot.
You won’t be able to buy ready-planted pots of this unusual variety at the garden centre, so do them yourself.
Prepared hyacinths are treated differently to the garden bulbs. They are harvested earlier and then get a preparation of 6 to 8 weeks at different temperatures. If they are then planted in mid September and stored in a cool place (about 10 degrees celcius) for 9 weeks, until the end of November, you can force them into flower in 3 weeks for Christmas. Plant them out in the garden after flowering inside.
