Product Description
I love these round Carrot 'Paris Market Parabell' - they are easy to grow, and quick to mature even on heavy soil like mine. They are delicious steamed for five minutes and then doused in tempura batter and shallow fried for dunking into soya or chilli sauce. Children love them too, eaten raw dipped in hummus or taramasalata.
- EASY
- Seeds: 500
Sowing: Sow in gutters in March or wait until the soil has warmed up and sow direct April - July. Germination is poor in cold soil. Sow as thinly as possible, in a 6in/15cm strip, not a single line. This reduces the need for thinning and the associated problems with carrot fly. Can also sow this variety earlier inside, 3-4 seeds per module or 1 whole pack into guttering, and plant out, without thinning in mid spring. Easy germination, particularly if you garden on light soil Final Thinning/Planting Distance: 2-3cm. Fleece soon after germination to discourage carrot root fly Harvesting: 8-10 weeks from sowing. June-November Storing: On a light soil, carrots are best left in the ground. Even after the frosts, leave them where they are, covering them with a thick layer of straw. On a heavy soil, dig them up and store.
