Product Description
Brussels Sprouts 'Red Rubine' look beautiful and have an excellent, nutty flavour. Stir fry them to keep their colour, or steam them gently. Lovely with creme fraiche and a sprinkle of nutmeg (see p391 Garden Cookbook). This is an early cropping form, harvestable through the late autumn and early winter, perfect for Christmas.

Sowing: Sow seeds under cover in March/April into individual seed modules. Sow 2 seeds into each module. After germination, thin out the weakest one. Grow on until the roots fill the module and plant them out. Easy germination. Sprouts need a sheltered, sunny spot and a rich, free-draining soil. Final Planting Distance: 60-90cm apart Harvesting: Throughout the winter, October - January, when sprouts at the base are walnut-sized and tightly closed. Production: 2 months.
