Biennials and Tulips
Perch Hill is a mainly productive garden where we grow and trial lots of flowers for cutting, as well as salads, herbs and veg for use in the kitchen, both for Sarah at home and for the garden and cookery school courses. We have three new areas of garden which we are developing, all linked with Sarah's BBC series (to be shown this autumn) about helping reverse our ever declining insect numbers. We have created a mini wild flower meadow using mainly native perennials. This is at a very early stage, plus a new nectar garden and a pictorial meadow of long-flowering annuals - some native British plants, but other longer-flowering annuals from Mexico and California to give a nectar bar to the insects for longer.
