White and Primrose Border Design
This design incorporates a fabulous combination of soft whites and primroses to create a calming area in your garden.
My friend, Pip Morrison- a garden designer- has a courtyard garden filled with only white and pale primrose flowers, with silver foliage plants in between. It is calm and ethereal and beautiful and this collection is inspired by it. The season starts with the Aquilegia ‘Clementine White’ and Anemone 'Andrea Atkinson' and continues until winter with the Phlox paniculata ‘David’ and Veronicastrum virginicum ‘Alba’ and the Dahlia ’Summertime’, which continues to flower long and late.
I have used 6 plant varieties in this border and 10 plants.
Suggested Border Size: 4ft x 8ft
Sarah’s Tip: This collection would do best in a sheltered , sunny spot.

- Verbascum ‘Gainsborough’ x 3
- Aquilegia (Columbine) ‘Clementine White’ x3
- Veronicastrum virginicum ‘Alba’ x1
- Anemone 'Andrea Atkinson' x1
- Phlox paniculata ‘David’ x1
- Dahlia ‘Summertime’ x1
You could use Cosmos ‘Sonata’ to replace the Aquilegia and have Lilium Regale ‘Album’ dotted through the border and Peony ‘White Wings’.
