I have harvested my borlotto beans and made a recipe from Sarah's cook/garden book, delicious. But would like to freeze the remaining beans. Does anyone know whether they freeze well?

A bit late to answer I'm afraid but I find the best way to dry them is to leave them out on the pod for as long as possible and then pick them, pod them and lay them out to dry, spread out on a screen. Once they've dried completely I pick out the bad ones and stor in a jar with a bay leaf (helps warn off larvae).

Hmmm thanks for the suggestions jasminelilyrose and Suzie, think I might try making some into soup etc., and dry the rest for use as a dried bean. Very easy to grow, and tase much better than bought dried beans. Regards.

It's worth letting these chaps dry out - they make great additions to soups and stews over the winter, just treated as you would any other dried bean

hi, its probably best to make them into something first and then freeze them - like a minestrone soup. I havent tried freezing them raw - perhaps also try blanching some in boiling water for a few seconds, drain and cool before freezing and see which works best!
