Which flowers should I grow to be in bloom in June?

It is our 25th wedding anniversary in June and I am planning a garden party for family and friends. We had an extension built last year so the garden is a blank canvas. Which flowers should I plant so my garden looks at its best in June. I like strong colours and have bought some dahlias for later on in the season.

Well, that sounds like a good place to be! I don't think cut flowers are vastly different from growing veg.
Also all the summer bulbs might be good to give you a bit of backbone and guaranteed drama.
