Sarah's Christmas Top 10 Decorations
This Christmas is all about fabulous decorations which will look good for years to come. We've scoured the country for the very best, and these are my favourites...
1. Shimmery Bird with Spun Glass
This is a head-turner, filled with spun glass, it catches the light and shimmers and twinkles away.
2. Frosted Pine Cone Garland
An inexpensive, effective way to jazz up your Christmas table or mantelpiece. I love these, totally natural looking but everlasting.
3. Wreath Lights
Battery fairy lights are a brilliant thing for twinkling up a wreath - or table centre - where you don't want wires, but they normally romp through the batteries and so end up costing a fortune... Not these - a set of 25 soft-white or brilliant red LED lights on a green or clear flex - which are the brightest, best and longest lasting of any we've trialled. I use them all the time at Christmas.
4. Giant Antiqued Silver Bauble
A favourite from last year, now available in medium as well as our large size. Hang one of these antiqued silver balls above the middle of a round Christmas table or arrange in small groups at different heights, or in a line down the hall.
5. Red Glass Birds
Go with the fashionable bird theme and hang these on your tree. They come with silver ties, but I’ve added burgundy satin ribbon.
6. Allium Lights
I fell on these as soon as I saw them – like a row of mini alliums held together on a chain. I love them strung down the middle of a Christmas table, looping over ivy (real or ever-lasting); draped over a fireplace; or on a mirror frame.
7. Everlasting Branches
Unlike the real things, which can become brittle and fall apart, the stems are slightly flexible so you can bend them gently to wherever you want to maximise impact. They look stunning displayed altogether like this in a large vase, or try them out in your Christmas decorations and arrangements.
8. Waterproof Light Chain
For extra glow, add low-energy, super-bright bulbs to your vase.
9. Make Your Own Garden Wreath Kit
Easy step-by-step instructions to help you make your best ever wreath, with fruit, flowers, chillies, seed pods and leaves from the garden or greengrocer down the road. We will give you exact ingredient instructions and a picking or shopping list for your wreath.
10. Rustic Multi-Coloured Mini Baubles
Antique-look, mini glass baubles on colourful ties which I use all over the house, not just on the Christmas tree: put them in the base of a vase in clusters or hanging from bare branches.
